Plant Manager

About the Role



Addiction Foods NZ is seeking a dynamic Plant Manager to strengthen the manufacturing operations of the recently upgraded Te Puke facility.  As a core team member of the largest dry pet food manufacturing plant in New Zealand, this highly strategic position will require you to demonstrate strong engineering and business acumen as you manage manufacturing processes, troubleshoot technical functions, oversee product quality and lead your team to achieve optimal productivity and on-time delivery.  Given your strong leadership experience, you will work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure that production levels meet healthy financial results.

 

 

Responsibilities


  • Ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in all areas of production and shipment, by establishing strong quality management systems and robust operating procedures
  • Responsible for efficient manufacturing operations and scheduling
  • Implement scheduled  production maintenance to ensure optimal performance of all machinery
  • Lead regular operation meetings to monitor overall plant goals including, but not limited to, production efficiency, staffing safety, environmental compliance and facility maintenance
  • Identify and execute lean transformation plans that drive process improvements, waste and cost reduction, material management and effective human resource utilization
  • Foster a work environment that promotes core values, respect for employees and customer value
  • Coach and develop team members to achieve performance excellence
  • Manage the plant’s current resources and budget.
  • Report the plant’s performance to all stakeholders, including proposals and recommendations for future improvements and development

 

Qualification and Skills required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering or related discipline)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plant management or manufacturing supervisory work
  • Excellent problem solving skills, especially for engineering challenges
  • Experienced in using Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies for manufacturing
  • Outstanding leadership and people skills that foster strong team spirit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of spreadsheets and financial statements
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
